Its story
The Hani Ulu Mosque is one of the district's most important monumental buildings. Sources give differing views on its construction date: Wikipedia states that it may be a Seljuk building dated to the 15th century, while the Cultural Inventory notes that it is accepted to have been built in the Artuqid period. Its inscriptions show that it was repaired in 1656–57 and 1682. Located north of the water source called Aynü'l Kebir, the mosque is built of dressed yellow limestone, rectangular in plan and covered with a flat roof. In the restoration that began in November 2022, the roof and carpet were renewed, the walls strengthened, later reinforced-concrete additions removed and the wooden gallery rebuilt in accordance with the project.
