Its story
The title 'Fatih Paşa' (the Conqueror Paşa), which the people gave to Bıyıklı Mehmed Paşa, who took Diyarbakır for the Ottomans, also became the name of this mosque he built in 1516–1520; because its dome is clad in lead, it is also called the Kurşunlu (Lead) Mosque. It is the city's first Ottoman mosque. The central dome, resting on four piers, is extended by semi-domes in four directions, and to the north is a seven-domed late-comers' portico with white marble columns. The founder's tomb and graveyard show that the building was a complex; nearby is also the tomb of Özdemiroğlu Osman Paşa. Damaged in the clashes of 2015, the mosque reopened for worship on 7 March 2019 after repairs.
