Its story
The site is a large protected zone covering almost all of Eceabat district, including the ridges, coves and valleys where the 1915–1916 Battles of Çanakkale (Gallipoli) took place. It was declared a historical national park in 1973 and reorganized in 2014 by a separate law as the Çanakkale Wars Gallipoli Historical Site. Within it are Turkish martyrs' cemeteries, Commonwealth and French cemeteries, memorials and the remains of trenches and redoubts. The Arıburnu–Conkbayırı line and the Seddülbahir–Morto Bay area are the two most visited main routes. With its pine forests and coastal views, it is a quiet place of remembrance and learning.
