Its story
Bolayır is a village built at the narrowest point of the peninsula, between the Gulf of Saros and the Marmara. Süleyman Paşa, son of Orhan Gazi, played an important role in the Ottoman crossing into Rumelia, and after losing his life here in a riding accident he was buried at Bolayır. The 'poet of the homeland', Namık Kemal, was also buried near Süleyman Paşa's tomb, in accordance with his will. The memorial tombs in the village recall both the Ottomans' first years in Europe and Tanzimat literature in the same place.
