Its story
The lava columns, starting from the western end of the 850-meter beach of the village of Güzelcehisar, stretch along the seashore as far as Mugada. The volcanic rocks, dated to the Late Cretaceous and about 80 million years old, split into pentagonal columns with vertical cracks during slow cooling. The area was declared a natural monument on 14 August 2017. Within a project, an 850-meter wooden walkway, a pier over the sea, a walking platform on the islet and a viewing terrace were built. The walkway, designed to be barrier-free, is especially loved for watching the sunset.
