Its story
Harpasa is an old Carian city built on a high hill within the boundaries of Esenköy in Nazilli. Ancient sources mention it on the banks of the Harpasos (Akçay) River. Wall sections and building remains can be seen on the hill. Its position overlooking the Akçay valley shows that the city was founded at a strategic point controlling the valley.
