Its story
Tepecik Mound lies on the road between Çine and Karpuzlu, near the Yörükler neighborhood. Excavations under Prof. Dr. Sevinç Günel of Hacettepe University, ongoing since 2004, have shown that the settlement goes back about 7,500 years and continued from the Late Neolithic to the Late Bronze Age. On the mound, a trade center in the Late Bronze Age, archaeologists found a building dated to the 13th century BC, thought to be a palace or temple, grain jars, defensive towers and a ceramic kiln about 3,500 years old. Traces of trade in obsidian and agricultural products were also uncovered.
