Murat Paşa Mosque
Muratpaşa, Antalya
A classical-period Ottoman mosque built in 1570 that gave its name to the district.
Its story
Although the mosque was built in 1570 in the Ottoman period, the influence of Seljuk calligraphy can be seen in its decoration. Spolia taken from ancient buildings were used in its construction; the columns with Corinthian capitals behind the portico are especially striking. Muratpaşa district takes its name from this mosque and its founder.
