İotape Ancient City
Alanya, Antalya
A Cilician harbor city built around a small peninsula and cove right beside the Alanya–Gazipaşa road.
Its story
İotape lies about 33 km east of Alanya, in the Aytap area. The city bears the name of the Commagenian queen İotape; it minted coins under the emperors Philippus and Valerianus. It later became a bishopric attached to Isauria. The statue bases by the roadside and the remains descending to the cove are easy to explore.
