Hıdırlık Tower
Muratpaşa, Antalya
A 2nd-century cylindrical Roman tower overlooking the gulf, where Kaleiçi meets Karaalioğlu Park.
Its story
Rising at the southwest corner of the walls, the tower is about 14 meters high; its lower part is square in plan and its upper part cylindrical. It is thought to have been built in the Roman period, most likely in the time of Hadrian. Because of its position, it is believed to have served both as a lookout point and as a lighthouse guiding ships into the gulf. From the surrounding park, the cliffs and the Beydağları can be viewed at sunset.
