Şehzadeler Museum (Museum of the Princes)
Merkez, Amasya
A wooden museum building at the head of the Alçak Bridge, with statues of the Ottoman princes who served as governors in Amasya and objects from their era.
Its story
In the Ottoman period, Amasya was foremost among the cities to which princes were sent as provincial governors to gain administrative experience. The two-story wooden building holds statues of twelve of these princes: on the upper floor, seven who ascended the throne, and on the lower floor, five who did not. Clothing and objects from the 15th and 16th centuries and a short documentary screening complete the museum. The building stands on the outer city wall opposite Yalıboyu, facing the King Rock Tombs.
