Adana Ulu Mosque (Grand Mosque)

The 16th-century complex of the Ramazanoğulları beylik, known for its tile decoration and alternating-color stonework.
Its story
The mosque was begun by Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey and completed in 1541 under his son Piri Mehmet Paşa. Its facade with black-and-white stone bands reflects Mamluk influence, while the İznik and Damascus tiles inside reflect Ottoman taste. The complex also includes a madrasa, a tomb and a bedesten. It is at the center of the city's historic bazaar quarter.
