Its story
The hot springs of Termal were also known in the Roman and Byzantine periods; Byzantine emperors are said to have built baths here. Fallen into near-oblivion in the Ottoman period, the springs were rearranged at the end of the 19th century, in the reign of Abdülhamid II. In the early years of the Republic, with Atatürk's interest, the area was turned into a modern spa center. Today the historic Sultan Hamamı, the Kurşunlu Banyo and pools serve visitors in a valley surrounded by plane and chestnut trees. The spring water emerges at above about 60 degrees and is believed to be good for rheumatic conditions.
