Its story
Uzungöl, about 19 km from Çaykara, is a landslide-dammed lake in a valley 1090 meters above sea level, formed when rocks falling from the slopes blocked the Haldizen Deresi (Haldizen Stream). The lake, about 1 km long and 500 m wide, is part of the Uzungöl Nature Park, declared in 1989. The lake area was enlarged by clearing work carried out in 2004. The walking path around the lake, viewing terraces and the region's characteristic wooden houses complete the scenery. Trekking and birdwatching are possible in the surrounding mountains; trips are organized to highlands such as Şekersu and Demirkapı.
