Its story
Cevdet Sunay was born in 1900 in Ataköy, in Çaykara; after serving as Chief of the General Staff, the 5th President and a quota senator, he died in 1982. The house where he was born was restored and opened to visitors as a museum in 2001. The building, a typical two-story village house, has cut-stone outer walls and wooden interior partitions. The entrance hall is arranged like the living space of a traditional Black Sea village house; Sunay's books, photographs, documents and desk are displayed in the study, and original belongings of his in the bedroom and guest room. It is on the road to the Sultan Murat Highland.
