Its story
Ballıca Cave is said to be about 3.4 million years old. The five-level cave has eight halls in two galleries; alongside stalactites, stalagmites, columns and flowstones, the 'onion stalactite' formations peculiar to Ballıca stand out. Colonies of pipistrelle bats live in the cave. The area was declared a nature park in 2007 and entered the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2019. The entrance is reached by stairs or by a nature path of about 300 meters; the site has a car park, a cafeteria and a handicraft sales unit.
