Its story
The Tunca Valley Nature Park is within the boundaries of the Ardeşen district, about 46 km from central Rize, and was declared a nature park on 11 July 2013. The area of about 4,000 hectares covers the high-mountain environment of the upper basin of the Tunca Deresi (Tunca Stream). Rhododendron species, blueberries and willows dominate the vegetation; various herbaceous species are widespread in the alpine meadows of the higher parts, and in autumn crocuses bloom. The area, home to species such as the Caucasian salamander, is also important for birds of prey. Paths running from the park to the İntor Glacial Lake and the Göleteği glacial area to the south allow long nature walks through forests and meadows.
