Its story
The Melendiz Mountains are a volcanic mass rising northwest of Niğde, between the Niğde–Bor plains and the Çiftlik (Melendiz) Plain. Its highest point is 2,898 meters, and to the west it connects to the same volcanic chain as Hasandağı. Together with Keçiboyduran Dağı and Göllüdağ, it forms one of the most widespread volcanic units of Central Anatolia. The summit is climbed by different routes such as Koyunlu–Küçükköy, above the Gebere Dam and Keten Çimeni. The Melendiz Suyu (Melendiz Stream), rising on its northern slopes, feeds the farmland of the plain.
