Bayır Plane Tree (Bayır Çınarı)

A centuries-old plane tree shading the square of Bayır village on the Bozburun Peninsula, registered as a natural monument in 1995.
Its story
Bayır is a village on the forested slopes of the Bozburun Peninsula, about 30 km from Marmaris. The giant plane tree in the village square was registered as a natural monument on 21 February 1995. Local sources put the tree's age at close to two thousand years. Walking around the tree while making a wish is a living tradition in the village. The village also has a monumental cypress tree registered on the same date.
