Demirköprü Dam Lake
Salihli, Manisa
The broad lake of a dam built on the Gediz River in 1954–1960, surrounded by the Kula volcanic cones.
Its story
Demirköprü Dam was built on the Gediz River for irrigation, flood control and power generation. Forming a lake of about 48 km² at normal water level, the dam irrigates a wide area of the Gediz plain. The cone-shaped hills of the Kula volcanic area rise on the lake's northeastern shores; this view is one of the most photogenic stops on the geopark route.
