Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden
Selçuklu, Konya
A habitat in the Butterfly Valley Park where thousands of tropical butterflies fly in a glass-domed garden kept at constant temperature and humidity.
Its story
The butterfly house built by the Selçuklu Municipality opened on 4 July 2015; the architectural design of the building with its butterfly-shaped glass roof has won an award. The flight area of about 1,200 m² is kept at 26 °C and 80 percent humidity all year round. Butterflies of dozens of species fly freely among thousands of tropical plants of more than 150 species; there are also hatchery and insect museum sections. It is presented as Türkiye's first butterfly conservation area and is particularly appealing for families with children.
