Konya Ereğli Museum
Ereğli, Konya
A museum displaying finds from Ereğli and its surroundings from the Neolithic to the Ottoman period, and the Late Hittite stele from İvriz.
Its story
The museum was founded in 1967 as part of the Konya Archaeology Museum and became independent in 1978 when it moved to its own building. Neolithic and Chalcolithic works from the Canhasan excavations, Darboğaz vessels, ceramics and seals of the Assyrian Trade Colonies Age, and painted vessels of Phrygian and Lydian work are displayed. The Late Hittite stele and statue head found at İvriz and a Hellenistic gold coin are among the rare works. The ethnography section contains local clothing, handwritten Qurans and woodwork.
