Its story
Osman Hamdi Bey was one of the pioneers of Turkish painting and the founder of the Istanbul Archaeology Museum and the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi (School of Fine Arts). He spent his summers in this seaside house in Eskihisar, made many of his works here, and after his death in 1910 was buried in his grave in the garden. The house has been arranged as a museum with period furnishings and reproductions of the artist's works. From its garden there are views of Eskihisar bay and the castle. The story of his famous painting 'The Tortoise Trainer' is told to visitors in this house.
