Kırklareli Museum
Merkez, Kırklareli
A city museum in the former municipal building dated 1894, with natural history, Thracian archaeology and ethnography sections.
Its story
The museum building was built in 1894 under Neşet Paşa, governor (mutasarrıf) of Kırkkilise, and was used as the municipal building until 1962. Once slated for demolition, the building was saved through local efforts, restored and opened as a museum in 1994. The ground floor has a natural history section introducing the animals of the Istranca forests, and the upper floor displays finds from excavations such as Aşağı Pınar and Kanlıgeçit along with ethnographic artifacts. It is also an engaging stop for families with children.
