Safranbolu City History Museum
Safranbolu, Karabük
A museum in the former Government House on the Kale hill, telling the story of Safranbolu's urban history and crafts.
Its story
The museum is in the former Government House (Hükümet Konağı) building on Safranbolu's historic Kale; the mansion burned in 1976 and was afterwards rebuilt and converted into a museum. The exhibitions tell of the town's history, traditional crafts, home life and commercial life. Together with the clock tower right next to it, it is open every day except Monday. The hill where the mansion stands is also a good point for looking down on the bazaar area and the red-tiled houses.
