Its story
The Sır Dam was built on the Ceyhan River between 1987 and 1991 for energy production. The concrete arch dam is 116 meters high from the riverbed; at normal water level it forms a lake of about 47.5 km². The power plant, with an installed capacity of 284 MW, produces about 725 GWh of electricity a year. With its winding shores stretching along the foothills of the Taurus, the lake offers viewpoints on the Kahramanmaraş–Andırın road.
