İzmir Bird Paradise (Gediz Delta)

A protected area in the saltpans and wetlands of the Gediz Delta where hundreds of bird species, above all flamingos, can be watched.
Its story
The Bird Paradise is a large protected zone covering the Çamaltı Saltpans in Çiğli and the wetlands of the Gediz Delta. The area was declared a waterbird protection and breeding area in 1982 and is part of the Ramsar-listed Gediz Delta. About 290 bird species have been recorded in the area, which lies on a migration route; flamingos breed here. There is a visitor center, observation towers and bike paths.
