Kültürpark
Konak, İzmir
A city park founded in 1936 on the area devastated by the 1922 fire, also home to the İzmir International Fair.
Its story
Kültürpark was founded in 1936, led by the mayor of the time, Behçet Uz, on the site of neighborhoods largely destroyed in the 1922 fire. The park is the traditional venue of the İzmir International Fair. With its tree-lined paths, pond, open-air theater, art galleries and parachute tower, it is a breathing space within the city. The fair gates around it are examples of Republican-era architecture.
