Its story
Gebekirse Gölü is a lake of about 56 hectares in the Küçük Menderes Delta, west of Selçuk. In 2006 the lake and its surroundings were declared a Wildlife Development Area of about 545 hectares, with waterbirds as the target species for protection. Surrounded by reed beds and farmland, the area is well suited to waterbird watching, especially in the migration and wintering seasons. Thanks to its proximity to Pamucak beach and Ephesus, it can be added to a tour of the area as a short nature break.
