A non-profit zoo in Sasalı where thousands of animals of about 130 species live in large natural areas.
Its story
The park was opened in 2008 by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality after the old İzmir Zoo closed. On its 425,000-square-meter site, animals live in sections that imitate natural habitats instead of cages. It is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. It welcomes about one million visitors a year and is one of İzmir's favorite stops for families with children.
