Dündar Bey Madrasa
Eğirdir, Isparta
Built as a Seljuk han and converted into a madrasa in 1301 by Dündar Bey of the Hamidids.
Its story
The building was constructed as a han in 1237, during the reign of the Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II. In 1301 Dündar Bey of the Hamidids converted it into a madrasa, and it took its current name. The two-story building consists of cells arranged around an open courtyard; the Seljuk geometric stone decoration of its portal is striking. Today its courtyard is lively with handicraft and souvenir shops; it is visited together with the Hızır Bey Mosque right next to it.
