Its story
Hakkari Cilo and Sat Mountains National Park was declared on 25 September 2020 and, with an area of about 27,500 hectares, extends across the boundaries of Merkez, Yüksekova and Şemdinli. The Cennet Cehennem (Heaven and Hell) Valley, on the park's Hakkari side, lies in the shadow of the roughly 4,135-meter Reşko (Uludoruk) summit and is surrounded by glaciers thousands of years old and the Avaspi glacial waterfall. Along the way you can see Mergan Yaylası and the Gelezor waterfall and church. Seeing the glaciers requires a walk of about two hours; climbing onto the glaciers is both prohibited and dangerous. Visitor numbers have increased in recent years, and groups usually come with a guide. The Sat glacial lakes on the park's Yüksekova side are a separate route.
