Its story
The Kadırga Highland is on the Gümüşhane–Trabzon border, within the boundaries of the village of Süme attached to Kürtün, and is a treeless mountain plain where the highland pastures of surrounding districts such as Torul, Tonya and Maçka meet. On the highland, at an altitude of about 2,200 meters, the traditional Kadırga Festival is held every year on the third Friday of July; thousands of people attend the festival, a day of reunion for families scattered by migration. One of the highland's symbols is the open-air mosque, linked to the time of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror and roofless for centuries; Friday prayers are held here in the summer months. The wide pastures and views of the surrounding mountains also make it suitable for walking.
