A municipal museum in the former Ayntâb Redif Depot near the castle, telling the story of the defense of Antep with a panorama, maps and documents.
Its story
The museum was opened in 2020 by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality in the historic Ayntâb Redif Depot building, which served the Ottoman army until 1912 and is right next to Gaziantep Castle. The city's resistance to the British and French occupation during the War of Independence is told through a large panorama, a floor map showing the occupation period, a telegraph gallery and documents of the time. The first section briefly introduces Neolithic finds discovered during the building's construction and the city's settlement history. It has the status of a licensed private museum under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It can easily be combined with a visit to the castle on the same day.
