Its story
The lake formed by the Dicle Dam extends right to the foot of the cliffs on which the castle stands at Eğil, creating a canyon-like landscape between high cliffs. GoTürkiye notes that the dam lake is a growing center for canoeing, swimming and other water sports, and that there is a rafting route from the village of Selman in Eğil to Diyarbakır. News reports say that visitors join boat tours on the lake after seeing the tombs; from the tours, Eğil Castle, the royal tombs carved into the rock and the valley walls are seen from a different angle. The picnic area on the shore is a good place for a break after visiting the castle and Ziyaret Hill.
