Troy Museum
Merkez, Çanakkale
A contemporary rust-colored cube-shaped museum at the entrance to the Troy site, displaying thousands of artifacts from the Troad region.
Its story
The Troy Museum opened to visitors on October 10, 2018, about 800 meters from the archaeological site. Designed by Yalın Mimarlık, the square-plan building stands out with its rusted metal facade evoking an archaeological layer emerging from the ground. The exhibits present sarcophagi, jewelry, ceramics and sculptures from the layers of Troy, other ancient cities of the Troad and islands such as Bozcaada and Gökçeada along a chronological ramp. Some pieces of the Trojan treasure returned from abroad are also here. From the roof terrace you can see the plain of Troy and the Dardanelles (Çanakkale Strait).
