Çanakkale City Museum and Archive
Merkez, Çanakkale
A municipal museum in a 19th-century bazaar building telling the story of the city's daily life, trade and memory.
Its story
The museum building on Fetvane Sokak is a typical bazaar building of the 1800s, built with shops on the ground floor and a residence upstairs; with a third floor added in 1936, it was used as a hotel for many years. Çanakkale Municipality bought the building in 2004, restored it and opened it in 2009 as the City Museum and Archive. The exhibitions tell of daily life through the city's commercial past, ceramic tradition, old photographs and documents. It can be visited on the same short walk as Aynalı Çarşı and the Clock Tower.
