Ottoman House Museum
Osmangazi, Bursa
A house museum in the historic streets of Muradiye showing the layout and decoration of a 17th-century Bursa house.
Its story
This house opposite the Muradiye Complex is one of the preserved examples of Bursa's traditional residential architecture. With a stone ground floor, a timber upper floor and bay windows projecting over the street, it has the typical layout of an Ottoman house. The main room upstairs stands out for its wooden ceiling and painted (kalem işi) decoration. Together with the restored houses nearby in the Muradiye quarter, a short walk lets you get to know the old neighborhood fabric of Bursa. The visit is easily combined with a visit to the Muradiye Complex.
