Mudanya Armistice House Museum
Mudanya, Bursa
The seaside mansion where the 1922 Armistice of Mudanya, which ended the armed phase of the War of Independence, was signed.
Its story
This wooden mansion on the Mudanya waterfront was built in the late 19th century as the residence of a Russian merchant. Between October 3–11, 1922, the Government of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and representatives of the Allied powers held talks here, and the Armistice of Mudanya was signed. Under the armistice it was agreed that Eastern Thrace would be handed over to Turkish administration without war. In the mansion, now arranged as a museum, the room where the talks took place, documents and period items are on display. It can be combined with a walk along the Mudanya waterfront.
