Its story
Eskikaraağaç is a small village built on a peninsula on the southern shore of Uluabat Gölü (Lake Uluabat). Every spring, white storks returning from Africa build nests on the village's roofs, chimneys and trees; for this reason the village received the title of European Stork Village. The villagers regard the storks as guests that bring abundance and protect their nests. June, when the chicks can be seen in the nests, is the best time to visit. It is a quiet stop for the lake's fishing life and for birdwatching.
