Its story
Karanlıkdere Canyon was declared a nature park in 2018 on the Burdur–Muğla border; the center of its official boundary falls in Burdur's Altınyayla district. The terrain of clay, sandstone and limestone is favorable for the development of karst landforms, and the canyon, the park's main resource, is foremost among these formations. The Seki Stream flows through a deep, wild bed among black pine and cedar trees along the canyon; springs emerging in the area add further value to the landscape. The park combines stream, forest and yayla ecosystems; wild boar, wolves and foxes can be seen, as well as birds such as eagles, hawks and kestrels. It is suitable for nature walks, picnics, canyoning, orienteering, angling and cycling.
