Its story
Sünnet Lake was formed when landslides coming down from two slopes in the deep valley of the Gök Dere (Gök Creek) blocked the stream. The lake, about 1,100 meters long and up to 100 meters wide at its widest point, reaches a depth of 22 meters; it is fed by the surrounding streams and springs, and its excess water flows via the Gök Dere into the Mudurnu Çayı and from there into the Sakarya River. The lake's surroundings were laid out as a forest recreation area in 1973 and declared a nature park on 11 July 2011. Within old black pine forests there are paths, picnic areas and an accommodation facility. With the change of colors on the slopes in autumn, it is a favorite of photographers.
