Çubuk Lake
Göynük, Bolu
A pine-forest lake beside the village of Çubuk, north of Göynük, formed by a landslide and known for the windmills on its shore.
Its story
Çubuk Lake (Çubuklu Lake) is a small lake in the Göynük district formed as a landslide-dammed lake. To its south is the village of Çubuk; the mountains to its east are a continuation of the Davlumbaz Highland, and the lake is about 17 kilometers southwest of Sünnet Lake. The lake surrounded by pine forests and the villages around it have been the setting of many TV series and films; the windmills built for a series in 2005 still stand on the shore and form the lake's best-known image. With its wooden pier and calm shores, it is suitable for a short break, a picnic and photography. It can be added to a route from Göynük to Sülüklügöl or Sünnet Lake.
