Its story
The Ferahşad Bey Mosque is in the village of Gökçedere, attached to Demirözü, and sources state that it was commissioned in 1517 by Hacı Ferahşad Bey, one of the Akkoyunlu beys. Beside the mosque, presented as one of the single-domed examples of Ottoman architecture, is a madrasa commissioned by the same patron. Throughout history the village has stood out for its location on a caravan route; the main buildings surviving from this period are the mosque and the madrasa. Restoration work was carried out in 2021 to return the building to its original Ottoman-period appearance. The village also has a historic hamam and a mound.
