Aydın Archaeological Museum
Efeler, Aydın
The provincial museum displaying sculptures, coins and ethnographic items from Tralleis, Magnesia, Nysa and surrounding excavations.
Its story
The origins of the Aydın Archaeological Museum go back to works kept in the Aydın Halkevi (People's House) until 1950. The museum was founded as a small unit in 1959 and in time moved to its current building. The collection includes sculptures, architectural fragments and a rich coin collection from Tralleis, Magnesia, Nysa and other sites in the province. The ethnography section reflects the region's efe culture and handicrafts.
