Kaleiçi
Muratpaşa, Antalya
Antalya's walled historic core and its most visited quarter, with narrow streets, bay-windowed houses and slopes leading down to the ancient harbor.
Its story
Kaleiçi is old Antalya, which developed within the area enclosed by the land and sea walls. Traces of the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods stand side by side in the same streets. The traditional houses with wooden projecting upper floors also offer important clues for understanding the city's past daily life and neighborhood culture. Landmarks such as Hadrian's Gate, the Yivli Minaret, the Kesik Minare and Hıdırlık Tower can be visited on foot within a few hundred meters. The streets slope down toward the historic harbor and open onto the sea.
