Alanya Lighthouse
Alanya, Antalya
A lighthouse on the bastions of Alanya Castle, built in 1880, 209 m above the sea.
Its story
Alanya Lighthouse was built in 1880 on the bastions of Alanya Castle by Mişel Paşa, of French origin. Originally running on a kerosene lamp, the lighthouse later switched to LPG and today to electric lighting. Although the tower is only 6 meters high from the ground, because of the steep slope of the castle peninsula its light shines about 209 meters above the sea. The lighthouse and the surrounding buildings are protected.
