Satı Kadın Museum
Kahramankazan, Ankara
A house museum in Kahramankazan in the home of Satı Çırpan, one of Turkey's first women members of parliament.
Its story
Hatı (Satı) Çırpan was elected headman of Sarılar village in Kazan in 1933, becoming one of Turkey's first female village headmen, and in 1935 she was among the first women deputies to enter the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. She is also remembered as one of the village women who supported the front during the War of Independence. Kahramankazan Municipality restored Çırpan's house and converted it into a museum in 2014. The museum displays her belongings, clothes, photographs and documents about the period. In front of the museum are a bust of Satı Kadın and a memorial fountain, and her grave is nearby.
