Erimtan Archaeology and Arts Museum
Altındağ, Ankara
A private archaeology museum at the foot of the castle presenting a collection of coins, seals, jewelry and ceramics from the Hittites to Byzantium in a modern display.
Its story
The museum was founded to display the collection of works gathered over many years by businessman Yüksel Erimtan, and it opened on 14 March 2015 as Ankara's first private museum. Three old buildings on Kale Square were combined and converted into the museum. Highlights of the collection include Roman-period jewelry, Urartian belts, cuneiform tablets, coins and seals. The museum also serves as a cultural center with concerts, workshops and exhibitions. It is close enough to visit on the same day as the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and the Rahmi M. Koç Museum.
